Nature Inspired Boho Shoot “Field of Gold” is the heart and soul of this clean, uncluttered natural styled shoot. This Field of Gold grows naturally near a sweet covered bridge. It is pure nature, unaltered by human planting. We love this location because it provided the perfect setting for a truly natural surrounding for a nature-based Boho styled shoot. It is styled circa 1969, highlighting the beginnings of the Hippie & Flower Child era when life was bright, full of music & hope, relaxed, organic, and back to nature.
What was your design inspiration?
I love to style shoots specifically around my gowns, it really pulls everything together in an amazing way! The simple, sweet gown, The Mia (as in Mia Farrow), complements the natural beauty of the organic event. As a child of this era myself, I am frequently drawn back in time to the flowerchild / hippie years of frolic, fun, and easy-laidback gatherings in local backyards and fields. I tried to recreate that feeling in this styled shoot. And reliving Woodstock, of course you need music, so a guitar, ukulele, flute just had to be theres! A sing-along ensued! What a simple DIY-able way to create an organic outdoor wedding or elopement!
Describe your flowers.
Using the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape as the backdrop, Mandy Ogaz of The Potted Pansy included natural elements such as lemons, limes, green apples, yellow & green peppers in all the florals, including in the cascading floral crown braided into the models real hair (no hair extensions here!)
Describe your cake.
Almost naked cake, is as simple and fun as the 60’s were. Adding the strikingly beautiful sugar flowers on this simple cake was the perfect pairing. It sits atop a retro stool that actually turns to go higher and lower. Oh, and the ribbons! It had to have lots and lots of ribbons! So fun to twirl the stool and watch the ribbons on the cake float!
Tell us about your attire choices.
The groom needed to be dressed casually and comfortably so he could serenade his sweetheart while playing his guitar. Keeping it casual at this outdoor music-fest wedding is what it’s all about.
Please describe any DIY, handmade or personal details.
Handmade natural fiber paper invitations, place cards, etc are one-of-a-kind. These are easy to DIY in any style you may choose. Here we kept them simple with hemp-twine and personalized them by actually writing each of them – not printing them off.
Describe the tablescape elements.
We used chunky ceramic dishes, some from the local thrift store, Citronella candles, wooden handled utensils, cotton mats, All this wood and cotton mixed with the lively yellow adds so much dimension and depth to the table, while keeping it simple, clean and uncluttered.
